Sunday night tidbits (recruiting notes, first GYROTR update)

It’s Sunday night, which means it’s time for some MGB notes and thoughts.

First off, media day is tomorrow for the UNT football team. Dan McCarney will have his annual fall practice State Of The Green address and UNT’s players will be around to talk.

There typically is not anything huge that comes out of the event, but be sure to check back tomorrow to see what goes down.

We are getting to the point where there are some commitments and announcements coming down on the football recruiting front, mostly from players who want to wrap things up before the season starts.

Offensive lineman Josh Jones is announcing tomorrow. He is a player UNT has offered, but conventional wisdom has him headed to the Big 12. He as a good player UNT got in on early who saw interest pick up later on.

In other news, Angelo Garbutt, a linebacker we talked to for our on-going UNT recruiting target series committed to Oregon State. He’s from right down the road at Hebron.

We already knew this, but here is another mention that the UNT men’s basketball team will play Arkansas this season.

And finally, the picks for our annual Get Your Rear on the Record contest are starting to flow in. Drop me a line at bvito@dentonrc.com with your picks.

People are really optimistic so far.
