The UNT men’s basketball team picked up a commitment today A.J. Lawson, a small forward at Bryan High.
Lawson was also recruited by Tulsa, Stephen F. Austin and several other schools, but quickly settled on UNT.
TexasHoops.com ranks him No. 20 among players in the Class of 2016 in the state. Check back for more.
Lawson named his relationship with UNT’s coaches and a connection with UNT guard J-Mychal Reese, another Bryan product, as factors in his decision to play for the Mean Green.
“It is very family oriented and I love their style of play,” Lawson said. “I believe what the coaches are telling me about the program — that we work hard and stay on top of academics. That’s important to my family. They told me the goal is to make the NCAA tournament.”
