The North Texas men appeared as if they were finally going to break through at the Mitchell Center in their game against South Alabama on Sunday. UNT led late and had a chance to put USA away, only to squander the opportunity. The Mean Green has not won at the Mitchell Center since Johnny Jones' first season at UNT. The Mean Green has lost a couple of close games in conference play and is still hanging around the middle of the pack in the league standings. UNT needs to make a run soon if it does not want to have to sweat out the last few games of the regular season in order to get a home game in the first round of the conference tournament.
