Longtime North Texas assistant women's basketball coach Janice Dziuk is leaving the Mean Green's coaching staff to take a job in the business world and will be replaced by former UNT player Shannon (Stephenson) Fears. Dziuk spent nine years on UNT's staff and is the second longtime assistant to leave the Mean Green's staff since the end of last season. Angela Ortega left the staff after 15 seasons a few weeks ago. Fears is a varsity assistant at Southlake Carroll and was a four-year letterman at UNT. She played from 1998-2002. She missed one season due to injury. This continuing loss of longtime assistants among various UNT sports, particularly among the womens sports,is becoming a bit worrisome. What gives? Money, lack of recognition, unrewraded support, or lack of confidence in the head coach(s)?
