A few days back, South Alabama became the first Sun Belt Conference school to land a football recruit for 2009. Now Troy is on the board with a pair of impressive players.

My friend Drew over at the Dothan Eagle reported on his blog last night that Troy has received commitments from Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College linemen Eugene Kinlaw and Nate Newland.

Both Kinlaw and Newland signed with Troy in 2007, but came up short academically and went to Hutchinson. Both said they plan to return to Troy in 2009.

Kinlaw is a big get for Troy. He was rated No. 46 in Rivals.com's 2007 Georgia Top 50, was a three-star recruit out of high school and had 5.5 tackles for loss last season for Hutchinson in the Jayhawk League, arguably the top junior college conference in the country. Newland started at right tackle for Hutchinson last season and is expected to start again this season.
