June 6, 2008A little bit of this and that ... A couple of more names have popped up when it comes to UNT football recruiting. Keenan Flax, a guard from Houston Cypress Ridge, has an offer from UNT, which is in a battle for his services with several major conference schools, including Arkansas and Iowa State. New Mexico is also in the mix, according to Rivals.com. The Mean Green has also offered Tanner Brock, one of the top linebackers in the state. The Copperas Cove standout has offers from Oklahoma, Arkansas, Wisconsin, Arizona State, SMU, TCU and Tulsa. Both could be a longshot for UNT. While the focus this time of year is on football recruiting, there has also been some good news to come out on some of UNT's non-revenue sports the last couple of days. Toby Edwards and Ciara Smith are headed to the NCAA national championship track meet. It's been a long time since UNT sent more than one individual to nationals. Just getting there is a pretty big accomplishment. UNT also hired a world class diving coach in Jim Pyrch, who was named the national coach of the year twice while coaching at Yale. Head coach Joe Dykstra seems to have the swimming and diviing program on the right track. Post your thoughts on the blog. Do you expect UNT to land a player the caliber of Flax or Brock in its next recruiting class? The entry "A few random notes" has no entry tags. |
