July 15, 2009A Web site called College Game Balls published an interesting breakdown of all Bowl Subdivision team's records from 2004-2008 this week that included a stunning stat on UNT. These guys -- who clearly have a lot of time on their hands -- broke down each team's record, conference record and record against teams with winning records. UNT is 15-44 in that time, with nearly half those wins coming in 2004, the final season of its four-year run as Sun Belt champs. UNT won seven games that year. Here's the zinger -- UNT is 0-22 in that time against teams with winning records. That's pretty hard to believe. The only other teams without wins over a team that finished the season with a winning record in that span are Temple, Idaho, Utah State and San Jose State. The Mean Green will have several chances this year to break out of its funk. Troy and Florida Atlantic should finish with winning records again. FAU has won a bowl game in each of the last two years. Ohio is supposed to be one of the best teams in the MAC, and don't forget about Alabama, which will be ranked among the national elite. It should be interesting to see if UNT can break the slide.
