Some off you out there probably noticed that I posted a blog this morning about CBS Sports leaving Brandon Kennedy off its Sun Belt All-Decade team. Well, he's on there now in place of Adrian Awasom, another UNT standout defensive lineman. Behold the power of the MGB, where we fight for truth, justice and the American way. Ok, mostly it's just a fight for someone, anyone to acknowledge the truth about UNT athletics. All kidding aside, I am sure someone sent an e-mail or got in touch with the guy who wrote the list. I doubt the blog had anything to do with it. Talking about Booger does bring back memories, though. The guy was a great player. And what made him even better is that Awasom, Cody Spencer, Craig Jones, Jonas Buckles and the rest of the guys playing around him were great as well. That defense was just plain nasty. There hasn't been a unit like that in the Sun Belt since. Heck, there might not ever be a batch that good in the league again. UNT ranked third in the nation in scoring defense at 14.8 points a game in 2002 when it played Texas, Alabama, TCU and Arizona. It's not like UNT played the watered-down slate it is this year with Army, two MAC schools and I-AA move-up Western Kentucky. UNT was still paying the freight for the athletic department in part with body bag games back then and was pretty competitive in those games, despite being paid off to play them. E-mail entry: |
I'm fairly certain J. Andrews wrote a letter threatening to eat his flesh if this was not corrected.
