I ran down a little more on UNT's injury situation, some of which Todd Dodge mentioned on his radio show today.
The interesting new tidbit is that Victor Gill has the same injury as Riley Dodge -- a separated shoulder. That leaves him out for this week and puts his return for the Middle Tennessee game in question.
UNT is really high on Matt Tomlinson, who is the top backup at both tackle spots. The question will be if UNT puts Tomlinson in at left tackle for Gill or kicks Esteban Santiago over to left tackle, leaving Tomlinson on the right side.
I would just about bet the bank on Tomlinson coming in at left tackle to maintain as much of the chemistry the line has developed as possible.
Losing Gill is huge for UNT. Cam Montgomery and Riley Dodge have picked up a ton of yards behind the former Argyle standout.
Jackson has a dislocated elbow that will keep him out two to three weeks. I would imagine he will be back for the Middle Tennessee game.
Dodge is out this week and maybe next. The concern for UNT and Dodge has to be the cumulative effect of his second separation to the same shoulder in the span on a couple of years. Each time it comes out, it weakens the ligaments and tendons around the joint and makes it more likely to come out again.
