If you are looking for when the next move on the conference realignment front might come down, look no further than later this week.

CUSA officials are meeting to talk over the potential merger with the Mountain West that will help determine how everything falls.

Here's a link: CUSA to meet

Watch what happens with Temple as well. It appears as it took all of five minutes after Memphis left CUSA for the league to contact Temple.

And here's the real zinger. The Memphis Commercial Appeal is reporting that Florida International is being evaluated as a prospective member if CUSA and the MWC merge.

I can't find the original story, but here's a link to the Philly paper's blurb: FIU to CUSA?

Hopefully this is just another blurb people are throwing out and not too accurate.

I will say this - if we do not get in ConfUSA in the next 2 years - then it's a total failure and we need a new AD!

I've been an RV fan, but going 12 years without conference movement - when other programs that have not won divisions, conferences, etc.. are getting into BCS conferences (USF,UCF,SMU,SDSU, etc) - is not acceptable.

His underground approach, putting off the WAC, and lack of public marketing has yet to get us into the promised land. Again - there are sharks in our swimming pool, other university systems that are ACTIVELY marketing themselves, and opportunity costs to think of here.

This aint' Kansas, and there's no good conference tooth fairy out there that will reward you if you try be a good football program. The movement is occurring with university systems that are selling themselves.

Where's Bill Lively? Where are the statements from Lane Rawlings and Lee Jackson? Have we engaged Dan Branch to help us out? Do we understand Conf USA's offices are in Dallas? Have we gotten a meeting with DMN's editorial board to help us get into a new conference?

Let's get this ball rolling!

I'm right there with you. The foundation has cured. Time to build and grow.

They are trying to keep the east teams happy by adding FIU and staying in the Miami market.
I assume we will be next in line...

I was hopeful that having Rawlins here would have positioned us better for realignment. Afterall wasn't he a major force in CUSA?!

Here is to hoping they give us a serious nod since we have really improved our athletic program since 2003.

RV can only work with what he has to work with

from hurley the idiot, to Pohl the "move up" to Dr. B the social butterfly UNT has had failed leadership at the top and that hamstrings the entire university

Lee Jackson is a pawn for royce west and slappy price and cares nothing about Denton.....he has never raised a dime for the denton campus with his "big time" dallas "connections" and he has actively worked against the denton campus to allow the only POTENTIAL professional programs like an unneeded law school and a pharmacy school to be located away from Denton and or to be a part of the new dallas flagship campus (that is itself a waste of money, time and resources)

if RV leaves or is fired you can look for him to be picked up immediately by a school that has a clue and decent leadership and you can look for UNT to fall further off anyone's radar even their own alumni

RV can't force alumni to donate and he can't force the higher admins to spend money on things they don't care about....the fact that so many UNT alumni either are not aware of this and or try and ignore it or spin it just shows how apathetic their fan base is overall and that is not something that can be fixed by one individual or in a decade

This apathetic alumni/fan feels CUSA won't give up DFW market regardless of number of fans in the stands.

@Chubby4BrettV - I'm not sure on the personal attacks on past leaders and/or their leadership styles, but I completely disagree with you on the actions of Lee Jackson. We 100% need to put our Eagle Claw down smack in the heart of Dallas, and the Law School along with the system center is an excellent strategy. In fact I encourage you to visit Main Street Gardens when you have some free time to check it out. There are a lot of reasons why this is a good strategy.

In context of RV - I have been a fan for 10 years, but the fact still remains we are in a bottom feeder conference when other systems have moved up. There is a window of opportunity for us now - and we need to move. I can understand his past strategy of trying to work under the radar, putting off the WAC, etc.. but again there are now many moving targets, other system's progress, D1 conference mayhem, etc.. where there's chaos there's opportunity - and we need to Market ourselves accordingly to take advantage of that chaos and position UNT's football program for the next 10 years.

Have a good day Chubby Checker.

1. you don't have a clue obviously

2. the system center is falling apart, loosing UTA and TAMU-C as cooperators, and saddling UNT with a great deal of expenses for garbage degrees

3. you are not putting an "eagle claw" smack down in dallas......you are putting a jaguar paw......because the eagle claw of the system center is failing.....see the emails between Dr. B and Lee the idiot which were part of her firing.....and more importantly the law school will belong to the unt-dallas jaguars not the denton eagles

4. the law school is NOT NEEDED.....no new law schools are needed anywhere in Texas or in the USA in any city or state or region......law schools are graduating people with huge debt and little to no job prospects in or out of the legal field that will allow them to pay off that debt

5. it will not be possible for UNT-dallas to offer a law degree that is any less expensive than any other state school in Texas and the school will be lower ranked than any law school in Texas public or private which means the job prospects for graduates that will allow them to pay off that debt will be non-existent

6. there are no reasons why a an unneeded law school attached to a failing campus miles away in south dallas is a good reason unless one is a fool

@Chubby4BrettV - You've really got no clue as to why establishing a footprint in the Country's 8th largest city is good thing to do??

Wow - maybe you did go to Tech..

Have a good day Chubby Checker.
