UNT picked up a pretty solid win tonight, knocking off Florida international in Miami.
The story was Brandan Walton, who got on one of those rolls you see good shooters get on at times. The JC transfer who is turning out to be everything UNT hoped he would be hit three straight threes and scored 11 straight points in the game and 13 straight for UNT in the Mean Green's 68-61 win.
Tony Mitchell had another big game with 17 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks. It was pretty impressive considering he only took nine shots.
Niko Stojiojkovic had a good game with eight points, three rebounds and two assists.
It would be nice for UNT to see Roger Franklin get back on track offensively. He missed all three of his shots from the field, but hit all four of his free throws. UNT is going to need him to contribute offensively if it is going to get where it wants to go.
UNT improved to 14-10 overall and 7-4 in league play. It helped that Denver lost. UNT is in third place in the Sun Belt West Division, a half a game behind Louisiana-Lafayette.
UNT will go for the sweep on Saturday at Florida Atlantic. That game should be a whole lot tougher.
UNT is not very deep and could really help its cause if it can make a run late in the season and wrap up a bye in the conference tournament.
